Donation Thank-You English APAC: Donation Thank-You English APAC.
Donation Thank-You English APAC.

The receipt said “thank you for your support.” The donor still does not know what the gift bought.

Donation thank-you English APAC is four lines the receipt page, the SMS and the email all say in the hour the gift posts: we got it, what it funds this week, where the proof lives, and no second ask today.

Street-smart APAC English: short sentences a tired operator can say out loud.

Most sequences skip this and jump to the next form. Belief is not a CRM. A thank-you that names the object is how the second gift stays possible.

This is the language companion to our mid-tier donor stewardship sequences, which maps the weeks after a gift. It also sits next to our stewardship SMS English, which writes the text sequence over the following days. This piece is narrower: the first hour, and the receipt page that every other channel has to agree with.

What are the four donation thank-you English APAC lines?

Line Job Say this (illustrative)
Receipt page H1 Confirm the gift “We received your P2,500 for the Monday budget briefing.”
Proof line Name this week’s work “This week it helps pay the field team for the district count.”
Link One destination “A ninety-second update is at the link below. No attachment.”
Boundary No second ask today “We will not ask again today.”

Every amount, program and district here is illustrative. Use the real amount the donor gave and a proof line your finance team can stand behind.

Why does the receipt page set the words?

Because it is the one surface every donor sees. The SMS depends on consent, and the email can land in a promotions tab. The receipt page loads the moment the gift goes through.

Write the four lines there first. Then the SMS and the email copy them, shorter. If the email says the gift funds one thing and the receipt says another, the donor has two stories and trusts neither.

What must the thank-you not do?

Kill this Why it fails Say this instead
A second donate form on the receipt page Turns a thank-you into a vending machine Proof line and one link. No form.
A heavy PDF impact report as an attachment Slow on prepaid data, rarely opened A short page or a ninety-second clip
“Join the movement” They already joined. They paid. Name what the gift does this week
A promise about tax treatment Tax rules differ by market and donor Only what counsel and finance have confirmed
A staff list copied on the donor’s personal note Privacy slip, and it reads like a blast One named person writes. Nobody is copied.

What happens in the first two hours?

  1. The receipt page shows the four lines.
  2. SMS or chat message, only where the donor consented: the same four lines, shorter.
  3. Email: the same object, one proof sentence, one link.
  4. No ask.

The next ask waits for a named fight with a real clock: a hearing, a filing, a canvassing weekend. Not “fundraising Friday.”

Kill this, say this panel: habits crossed out, replaced by the receipt page shows the four lines, SMS or chat message, only where the…, email: the same object, one proof….
Kill this: the habit lines.

Who signs the message?

A human with a name, not “Team.” The donor gave to people. The first reply should come from one.

Pick one sender per donor segment and keep that name steady. If the donor replies, that person, or someone on their desk, answers within the working day. A thank-you that invites a reply and then ignores it undoes the thank-you.

What about bigger gifts?

Same four lines in the first hour. The larger gift gets a human touch later: a call, a short note, an invitation. Our mid-tier donor welcome call scripts cover that call.

Do not write a novel for a small gift and a different novel for a large one in the first hour. The first hour is proof of receipt, whatever the amount.

What does the donor see if something goes wrong?

Sometimes the proof is late. The field count slips, the briefing moves, the clip is not ready. Say so, in the same channel, before the donor asks.

Desk note: Email: the same object, one proof….

Paste-ready delay note (illustrative):

The update we promised for this week is late. The field count moved to next week. Your gift is still funding that count, and the update comes the day it finishes.

A late proof line, told plainly, keeps trust. A silent one turns the first thank-you into a broken promise.

Monday field kit

  1. Amount and object on the same line.
  2. One human name on the SMS, not “Team.”
  3. A proof link that plays on prepaid data, no login.
  4. Opt-out requests honoured the same day.
  5. Kill rule: if the receipt page has a second donate button above the fold, take it off before the next gift lands.

FAQs

What is donation thank-you English APAC?

Donation thank-you English APAC is the four-line confirmation a donor sees in the hour the gift posts: received, what it funds, where the proof is, and no second ask today. The receipt page, SMS and email all say the same thing.

Do we thank every small gift the same way?

Yes, every gift gets the same shape in the first hour. Change the proof sentence only if the object changes.

Can the thank-you be bilingual?

Yes, but use one language per message. Do not stack English and Filipino in the same SMS.

Can we mention tax receipts?

Mention a tax receipt only if your organisation can actually issue one in that market for that gift. Counsel and finance confirm the wording, and the thank-you never promises more.

What to do this week

Open last week’s receipt page on a phone. If a second ask shows before the proof line, you are running a vending machine. Fix it before the next gift.
