Comment Moderation line English APAC, Singapore: Pin, hide, escalate.
Pin.

A page admin with no paste lines will improvise. Improvisation screenshots.

Comment moderation English is three moves a page admin can perform without a lawyer on the chair: pin the true line, hide the pile-on, escalate the threat.

Street-smart APAC English: short sentences a tired operator can say out loud.

This is operator language, not legal advice. Counsel and the platform owner write the live takedown rules. The admin needs sentences that do not create a new claim in the thread.

Our OSA brand-admin English covers the first hour after a formal online-harm notice in Singapore. This piece is the everyday layer: the ordinary Tuesday thread on a paid post, where nothing is legal yet and everything can become a screenshot.

The three moves

Move When What you paste (illustrative)
Pin The true line already exists on the page “The full statement is in the post. We will not add a second version in comments.”
Hide Abuse, pile-on, or off-brief speculation Hide. Do not debate. Do not quote the abuse in your reply.
Escalate Threat, doxxing, or a legal demand “This comment is with the desk. We will not handle it in-thread.” Then send the screenshot to the named owner.

Write the pin line before the post goes live. The first hour is too late to invent tone.

Kill this / say this

Kill this Say this (illustrative)
“Thanks for sharing your truth, we hear you.” on a false claim “The figure on this page is from the agency’s published report. We will not change it in comments.”
Arguing a rumour point-by-point in replies Hide the rumour. Point to the rumour-response page if you have one.
“Please DM us your account number / address / child’s name.” Never collect sensitive data in comments or DMs from a public prompt.
A junior admin adding a new policy in a reply “Policy lives on the page. Comments do not amend it.”

For rumours that move from comments into group chats, our rumor response WhatsApp English has the field lines.

When does a critic get a reply?

When they ask a real question that the page already answers. Not before, and not more than once.

A reply is not a debate. It is a pointer. One sentence, one link, then stop. If the critic replies again with the same point, the thread is now a show for other readers, and the pin already speaks to them.

Comment Move Reply (illustrative)
“Where did you get this number?” Reply once “The source is linked in the post: the agency’s published report.”
“You people are all corrupt.” Hide No reply.
“I know where your staff live.” Escalate “This comment is with the desk.” Then screenshot and send to the named owner.
“This is fake.” with no question Leave or hide per policy No reply. The pin already answers it.

Quiet hours and diaspora clocks

A comment at 1am PHT may be 9pm in Dubai. The pin can wait for staffed hours unless the comment is a threat. Threats escalate now. Opinions wait.

Do not staff a 24-hour argument with a 9-person desk. Staff a 24-hour escalate path.

What goes on the comment moderation English admin card?

One page. Printed or pinned in the admin chat. Readable at 1am.

Admin card (illustrative):
Pin line: the statement is in the post; no second version in comments.
Hide: abuse, pile-on, doxxing attempts, off-brief speculation. Do not quote it back.
Escalate: threats, personal data, legal demands. Screenshot first, then send to the named owner.
After hours: the escalate number is on this card. Opinions wait for the morning shift.
Never: collect personal data, add policy in a reply, argue a rumour line by line.

If an admin needs to think about which move to make, the card is too long.

Desk note: Escalate.

What if an admin replies with the wrong line?

It will happen. Fix it in the open, once, and move on.

Do not delete the admin’s reply quietly if people have already responded to it. Edit or follow up with the correct line, point to the post, and log what happened for Monday.

Follow-up line (illustrative): Correction from the page team: the figure is the one in the post above, not the one in our earlier reply. The post has the source.

Then fix the card, not the admin. If a junior admin reached for the wrong sentence, the card did not give them the right one. Add it before the next shift.

Monday field kit

  1. Print a one-page admin card: pin line, hide rule, escalate names, after-hours number.
  2. Two admins minimum on any paid post that will take heat.
  3. Screenshot before you hide if the comment may become evidence. Store it off-platform.
  4. Review the pinned line every Monday. Dead pins teach the audience that the page is on autopilot.

FAQs

What is comment moderation English?

It is paste-ready lines for pin, hide, and escalate. They are written so a page admin does not invent policy in a thread.

Should we reply to every critic?

No. Reply when the critic asks a real question the page already answers, hide abuse, and escalate threats.

Is hiding the same as deleting?

Platforms differ. Use the tool counsel and the platform owner named, and do not freelance a third option.

Which language do we moderate in?

Moderate in the language of the post. If the thread switches language, keep the same claim and do not invent a softer English version in the replies.

What to do this week

Pick the post most likely to take heat this month. Write its pin line and admin card before it goes live, and name the person who picks up an escalation at 1am.

Neuwark Communications writes page-admin and rapid-response language under Digital & Social and Crisis & Rapid Response. If your admins are improvising in the thread, talk to us at Contact. More desks: Insights.

Communications craft, not legal advice. Threats, defamation, and data collection sit with counsel and the platform owner.
